12/18 WEDNESDAY

CCR:

Model Conclusion:
Romeo and Juliet is a play that expresses many things: passion, the futility of a feuds, the folly of youth.  However, this play is not one describing love.  Romeo and Juliet are not experiencing true love because are far too young to have any real understanding of the emotions they are feeling, they haven’t known each other long for love to grow and develop, and Romeo lacks the sense of selflessness and commitment that come with true love.  It is perhaps this senseless perpetuation that has caused mere infatuation to be given the title of love.  If the world would be more discerning with their emotions, events like the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet could be avoided.
